Tasting Notes
The very definition of wild coffee, Yemens are famous for their deep earthy, fruity and pungent spicy notes. In this lot we were lucky to find a rich, complex coffee with coconut, oak, creamy vanilla, an oily body and a dry acidity. Light tobacco notes came through in the aftertaste.
About the Coffee
Always in contention with Ethiopia for being the birthplace of coffee, Yemeni coffees have a rich history. The port of Mokha, long ago the main hub of the world coffee trade, is known to today’s consumers as part of the famous Mokha-Java blend and while we’re not sure where the chocolate connection came in, “Mochas” are served in coffeehouses all over the world. Yemeni coffees remain some of the most raw “wild” coffee in the world. Raised traditionally without any chemicals and dry processed, they are always an adventure!
