This is what we believe espresso should taste like. Even when tasting some of the best espressos out there, we can’t help contorting our faces when we hit that inevitable bitterness/sourness. The Scarlet offers a lush sweetness throughout. Intense dark, slightly spicy cocoa notes blend perfectly with hazelnut and butterscotch as the thick crema coats your mouth. The body offers hints of coconut and a lingering crème brûlée finish, smooth to the very end.

A blend of two different coffees, this is the coffee we have spent the most time perfecting. Roasting and cupping different combinations and variations we were one day blessed with what came to be known as the Scarlet - now served daily across all 9 of our cafés. Blends perfectly in milk, and has no equal as a straight shot or a macchiato. Enjoy!

Our original, our anchor, our daily pour: Scarlet Espresso is the espresso blend we pull across all 9 Jaho cafés. A union of Brazilian and Kenyan coffees, it’s crafted for balance. Comforting enough for milk drinks, yet vibrant enough to enjoy on its own. Brazil lends body and toffee sweetness, while Kenya brings brightness and depth. The result is a smooth, expressive shot with layers of coconut cream, brûléed sugar, and rich hazelnut. Whether you drink it straight, short, or stretched, Scarlet is espresso done the Jaho way: classic, clean, and full of character.

    Best espresso we’ve found other than France!

    We use a Gaggia super automatic espresso machine at home and have been ordering Scarlett Espresso for SIXTEEN YEARS and drink it everyday. Nothing else in this country that we have bought to brew compares!

    If your looking for an awesome DECAF, SOFT LAUNCH ESPRESSO is the way to go!

    Amazing Espresso

    I was pleasantly surprised by the Scarlet Espresso. The beans arrived freshly roasted, having been shipped just one day after the roast date. It is a medium-dark (bordering on dark) roast with low acidity and zero bitterness.

    After experimenting with 3–4 different recipes, I settled on 18g in and 38g out in 22–24 seconds. The profile is incredibly smooth, featuring distinct notes of chocolate, coconut, and hazelnut. I highly recommend this blend.

    No imperfections

    This coffee is almost too good. It has no imperfections and is incredibly smooth. If you are trying to learn to drink coffee black, this is an excellent way to get started. It also makes an outstanding espresso.

    Another thing I like to do with this coffee is to use it in blends. I mix it with something compatible, and it smooths out the rough edges. Scarlet Espresso has become a staple item in my kitchen.
